Beatles Finally Going Online

zap_paul.gif

The last of the living Liverpudlians (Ringo doesn't count. Still.), Sir Paul McCartney, told Billboard.com that 2008 will be the year that the Beatles' music goes online, removing one of the last major holdouts from the online music industry. The delay, not surprisingly, has been due to contractual issues - which should come as no surprise from the fellow who wanted Apple to pay him for the word "Apple."

"It's down to fine-tuning, but I'm pretty sure it'll be happening next year, 2008... You've got to get these things right... You don't want to do something that's as cool as that and in three years time you think, 'Oh God, why did we do that?'"

Although solo music from each of the Beatles' members is available online, thanks to last month's arrival of the late George Harrison's albums, McCartney's announcement heralds the first time all four will be available for download on a music service like iTunes or Napster.
