Fisker Plug-In Hybrid Concept Puts The 'Chic' In Eco-Chic

Fisker Automotive, a newly formed "green American premium car company" has announced new details regarding its first production vehicle.
The four door plug-in hybrid sports sedan has a range of 50 miles on electricity alone, and over 620 miles in hybrid power mode. Fisker claims an efficiency of 100 miles per gallon. The design is by Henrik Fisker, more widely known for his attractive Aston Martin designs.
The as of yet un-named model will be making its debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January, with initial deliveries beginning in the fourth quarter of 2009. Fisker plans to make 15,000 of these cars annually.
Being green has never looked so hot.
The sticker shock for being eco friendly and extremely sexy looking at the same time? A cool $80,000. Fruit Brute and Tiny Dancer: expect a request in your inbox for funds to acquire a "review unit" from me soon. There's got to be a treasure room somewhere in the castle!

The trouble with a plug-in hybrid is you need a place to plug it in. For those of us who park outdoors & don't have an outlet nearby, we're out of luck.
I love my Prius just as it is. It's the first car I actually enjoy driving, because it feels like I'm driving something out of the Jetsons.
Mike: The plug-in part is optional. You don't need to plug it in. It has a hybrid drive just like the Prius (licensed from the same company that provides Toyota with the base technology.)
The plug-in part means that if you do want to, you can plug in the car and go for 50 miles without using a drop of gasoline.
