Smack-talk, Round 2: Microsoft Vs. Android

microsoft_vs_android.jpg

Fresh off the smack-talk by Symbian against Google Android, the charming Steve Ballmer from Microsoft pipes up with his own helping of combative phrase:

"Well of course their efforts are just some words on paper right now, it's hard to do a very clear comparison [with Windows Mobile],"

Let's review. Google Android is now: a cold virus, a piece of paper.

"Right now they have a press release, we have many, many millions of customers, great software, many hardware devices and they're welcome in our world."

Steve goes on to note that Windows Mobile is available from 100+ mobile phone operators, on over 150 different devices, with a projected number of licenses this year of 20 million.

The thing is, I don't know of a single person who has owned a Windows Mobile powered device (myself included) that's been happy with how Windows Mobile operates. The design is clunky, unintuitive, and prone to many, many crashes. Quite frankly, I think Windows Mobile's license rate is more due to a lack of competition than actual quality of their product.

I fully expect Palm to release its own bit of smack-talk next, and we've yet to hear back from Google. The ball's in your court now, Google. What do you have to say for yourself?

I've just seen the Steve Ballmer (Microsoft CEO) and Nigel Clifford (Symbian CEO) speeches about Android (http://www.weshow.com/us/p/22898/microsofts_ceo_discusses_googles_smartphone) and they really don't seem to be worried about Android, as we can see in their smiley and calm faces. I think this competition is very healthy to IT market and good to costumers.

Yes, i think Android is a good platform for the future with only the sky as the limit for it's innovation. I'm worried with Microsoft products right now, since they started to loose any power on any product lines. My opinion is after the cyberspace, many company will reach aerospace battle.
