T-Mobile Steals Magenta... Stonewall Happens Again

T-Mobile is apprently the owner of the color Magenta. This means that T-Mobile has total control over Magenta when it comes to tele-communications world. Luckily for all of us, this doesn't apply to the name Magenta, so you can still go to your Rocky Horror Picture Show midnight showings, but they have used it against other companies trying to infringe on their precious color. In 2001, they sued an On-Demand book publisher for having the gall to use the gayest color in the world in their ad campaign.
The details seem a bit sketchy, but this is directly from their Trademark information:
... and the color magenta are registered and/or unregistered trademarks of Deutsche Telekom AG in the US and other countries.
Trademarking a color seems a bit over-zealous to me. I get that a lot of money and time goes into markting campaigns and slogans, but the color magenta was around a long time before T-Mobile came around. Maybe we should go and trademark this dark blue hue so that we can collect revenue from any other blog that chooses to use it?

This sort of activity isn't exclusive to T-Mobile. If you read the small print on Cadbury chocolate packaging, you can see that they have trademarked the colour purple.
If I remember correctly, UPS trademarked the color brown. This whole thing is stupid; colors shouldn't be considered property.
