Video: Google Android Demo And Software SDK

Google has released the SDK (Software Development Kit) for Android today, along with publishing a plethora of videos showing off Android's capabilities, proving Android is more than a piece of paper.

Of note, as shown in the demo video, Android uses OpenGL (the other, more open standard than Microsoft's DirectX) to render 3D graphics. Android also uses WebKit to display websites; WebKit also powers the iPhone's Safari, so web pages that work on the iPhone should also work on Google Android.

The interface seems nice, but is not yet near the iPhone's wow-inducing polish.

Google has also set aside $10 Million to give away to developers that make the best apps for the Android platform. That'll certainly get the software development community buzzing and chomping at the bit to start coding!

Oh, and in case you're wondering: it plays Doom. Hit the jump for proof.
