Zipit... Zipit Good!

Do you hate trying to text message your friends using your number pad? Do you hate lugging around your laptop to the coffee shop knowing full well all you're going to do is IM your buddies? Then check out this slick new gadget, the Zipit 2 from Zipit Wirless.

This little fella comes packed with a few more bells and whistles than I would have assumed for a product aimed squarely at the teen market. The big selling point is that it will connect AIM, MSN and Yahoo IM via wifi, so you can chat on the go without paying any fees. You can also store and play music and photos using the microSD slot up front. With a few customization options like Backgroundz and Themez (don't forget, adding a z onto the end of something makes it hip), this looks like it could be a fun little gadget.

While it's hard for me to say that this is an iPod Touch killer, I can definitely see a niche for it. For around $150 you can carry aroung your music and photos and keep in touch with your friends. It would be nice to see a full browser, however.
