Rumorama: Touch Screen Capabilities In Windows 7?

Windows 7

According to a Microsoft blog posting, Windows 7 will feature touch screen capabilities that will show up everything on the market today. According to the blogger:

I will say that if you are impressed by the "touch features" in the iPhone, you'll be blown away by what's coming in Windows 7.

The blogger also wonders how they can convince the world that Windows Touch Technology will sell. My best guess here, and it's just a guess, is that you show them the current touch interfaces and how well they are selling *cough*iPhone*cough*, and the concept should sell itself.

I take deep issue with this post though. While I understand that there must be a team focused on on what's next in Microsoft's OS world, I have to wonder where the team is that should be fine-tuning their current OS? I've heard more rumors about Windows 7 lately than I have about fixes and patches for Vista, which is only a year old! We all know we probably won't see Windows 7 for another 2-3 years (best guess), so why start the buzz on it.

And you want to know what the best way to onvince people to buy future products from you? Get them to buy, and enjoy, your current products! If people are happy with what they have of your today, they will buy what you offer them tomorrow. So please, Microsoft, for the love of all things non-Apple, please focus on your current offerings before moving on to the next! Please?

My theory is that they release OS's in a Decent/Crappy release cycle...

Win 3.1 - Decent, used for years
Win 3.11 - Crappy
Win 95 - Decent, some still in use
Win 98 - Crappy
Win 98SE - Decent
Win ME - (Do I even need to spell it out?)
Win XP - Decent
Vista - Crappy

/tongue in cheek

And girls who like girls who like fembots!
