Video: New Toyota Robots Playing Violin And Carrying People
The onslaught by our new Cylon overlords continues, with this video of Toyota showing off their new violin playing and people carrying robots:
The violin playing robot is the latest addition to the Toyota robot band, joining its older siblings who play trumpet, tuba, trombone, french horn, and percussion. I'm glad their starting to get in on the string action, though being a clarinet player, I'm sad there's no woodwind section yet. Perhaps woodwind embouchure is a little too complex for the robots at the moment.

The other new robot is a mobility robot in the vein of the Segway, but with some added tricks and functionality: you can summon the robot and it will come to you, avoiding obstacles along the way, and has wheels that adjust to travel over uneven terrain.
The video is from a Japanese broadcast with English dubbing, so you non-Japanese speakers will be able to keep up.

One way or another, Microsoft will try to sell you a phone.
I'm aware this is the most trivial aspect, but... who cares. I know making the robots look human would be creepy and weird, but is "alien," such a better alternative? In any case, neat. Those are some robots I could really see myself enjoy bowing down to.
