Why I Love Korea: Wearable Computer Fashion Show

Fabulous!

Last night, I was doing my usual surfing, trying to find some interesting stories to write about. There were the usual "Blah blah to go Open Source," and "We're teh #1zzzz!!!1!1" from random CEO's, and even a few "look at our cool new gadget!... you buy now?" I was feeling a bit tired and was about to give up when I stumbled upon what could be the single most orgasm-inducing event for the queer tech enthusiast, the UFC (Ubiquitous Fashionable Computer) Fashion Show that happened in Seoul, Korea last week!

The UFC focuses on convergence of fashion and IT. Designers were encouraged to find innovative ways to wear fashion and incorporate IT into our daily lives. This picture demonstrates possibly the most... interesting design and most useful tool combination. While the dress is dangled with various "keyboard" designs, the gadget is the power glove, er, the iThrow. With the iThrow, people can "throw" files to other people wearing the device, control DVD players and play with electric lights!

Other wearable tech included an e-Book reader and a hat that changes color depending on the environment. Check the links for more pictures, courtesy of Aving.net.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go chase down Tiny. It seems that he and Den Den are fighting over who gets the power glove, I mean iThrow (I can't help it, it's a freaking Power Glove!). I'm pulling for Den Den though... I'm a tad bit afraid of what exactly Tiny will use it to interact with, and I'm almost positive he'll be wearing the dress while doing it.
