Can't Decide? Let Glass Booth Do It For You!

Another day, another Caucus. In my on going efforts to inform our readership of the tools and information available to them, I have shown you article after article after article displaying different aspects of the candidates. Hopefully, you've found some good information, and have narrowed the field on your choice (and if you haven't narrowed it down, don't worry, Dodd and Biden both called it quits after the caucas last night, so that should help with the decision-making process).

Sometimes, though, all that info on all those candidates is just a blurr of political speak, and doesn't help at all. That's where Glassbooth comes in. Glassbooth is survey style tool that helps identify candidates that most resemble your personal beliefs on top issues. Once it has identified your issues and stances, it will show you the top three candidates closest to you. You can of course look at how you compare to the other candidates, but that's more to help you confirm how much of an idiot the other candidates are!

The process works in two steps. Step one you identify the issues important to you and how important they are. You are given 20 points to spread out amongst the issues, and you can add more points to an issue to indicate the importance of the issue to you. Step two involves a set of slider-scale questions to pin down your position on said issues. Once it's done, it compares you to the candidates and gives you a generic % likeness rating (I was 85% Kucinich, which didn't surprise me in the least, then 83% Edwards and 81% Obama).

The best part of this, however, is when you get the results. You can click on each platform to see the candidates stated stance on the issue, as well as corresponding votes on legislation related to the issue. So not only do you see what they say, but what they've done to back it up. Unfortunately, there just isn't a way to rate the candidate on follow-through, so we have to go off the next best thing.

This is a great tool. As with anything else I've presented here, I would not recommend it to be used as a sole basis for your decision, but it is a fantastic resource. Being able to cut through hype to real issues and votes is essential, and it may surprise you which candidates relate most to you.

This sounds really cool. I have to admit that I'm not really up on my candidates, and most if not all of my information that I have on the candidates comes from my boyfriend - I know I'm a political slacker. So this sounds really helpful! Thanks JJ!
