iPod Plateau?

No, the sky isn't falling, but this was bound to happen one day: the dedicated portable media player market, a relatively recent creature, should show signs of nearing its peak in 2008, according to a study by iSuppli. 2007 gave us a cooler pace than the frenzied MP3-lust of years past with just 8% growth year-over-year, and estimates put growth for 2008 at a relatively glacial 3.5%.
It's not just because everybody's got one, either - iSuppli points to a rapid increase in customers switching over to cellphones for media playback. And who's got the biggest, baddest media-friendly phone? The iPod may be nearing a plateau, but Apple sure ain't.
