POTC: The Curse Of The Black Pearl Replacement Disc Update
A few weeks ago, I wrote about issues with the Blu-ray disc of POTC: The Curse of the Black Pearl. The main problem owners like me had were framing issues that cut off parts of scenes, including shots of Orlando Bloom's face (travesty!)
Disney of course set up a replacement disc program, and I'm happy to report that two and a half weeks later, I've received my replacement disc straight from Buena Vista's Consumer Relations Department in Neenah, Wisconsin (how do they pick these places?)
I gleefully fed my new POTC: The Curse of the Black Pearl disc into my PS3 to see if all the framing issues had indeed been fixed, and indeed, everything seems fine and dandy. I took some comparison shots so you can see the difference; just hit the jump to see them. Also after the jump are details for getting your own replacement disc in case you missed the instructions last time.
Here's a comparison shot of the scene I wrote about at 25 min. 39 sec. in the movie. In the original production disc, the framing was such that Orlando Bloom's face was half cut off, as seen on top. The new, fixed disc has the correct framing with Orlando Bloom's full face (*swoon*), seen on the bottom:
And below, you can see that the old and new discs look exactly the same. There's no difference in the labels:
