Microsoft Eats Up Danger, Maker Of Sidekick

And the endless hunger of the Microsoft Monster keeps on rolling. It just seems like Microsoft is like a kid that just got handed its allowance: they just have money burning a whole in their pocket.
Microsoft announced today that they have purchased Danger, the maker of the somewhat popular Sidekick phone, giving rise to the belief that MS isn't content competing against Apple's iPhone with just their Windows Mobile OS. The move has garnered mixed reactions from analysts and enthusiasts alike, with everyone wondering what exactly will happen to the Sidekick.
While Windows Mobile has some great business use merits, I'm pretty sure the Sidekick doesn't target the business audience. On top of that, I'm positive the people interested in the Sidekick could care less about Windows Mobile. To me, it just seems like an odd purchase and doesn't make too much sense, but I suppose if I were Microsoft and bored... it might make sense?
Look, Microsoft, just because your most recent sweetheart Yahoo! turned you down doesn't mean you should just run right off to the next shiny object you see! I'll be honest, I'm baffled by these recent buyouts and buyout offers by MS. Unless they planned on creating a wholly new OS to compete with Android via Yahoo!, I'm stumped.
Anyone else have any ideas what has caused MS to make such random purchases?

One way or another, Microsoft will try to sell you a phone.
