Steve Jobs Is A Size Queen: iPhone Gets "Natural" Phone Enhancement

I love the Apple-fanatic mentality. Watching an Apple Fan’s eyes during a Steve Jobs press conference is akin to watching a grandma get a letter from her favorite grandchild: it’s an interesting mix of hope, excitement and expectation all wrapped in one.
But that’s nothing compared to when Apple’s Online store goes down. That is when you see the true grit of an Apple Fan. They may as well be an OCD child on Christmas day, running downstairs every few minutes to see if Santa came. If any other site went down in the middle of the day, there would either be outrage or disinterest. Not with the Apple Store, however, because we have all become well aware that the Apple Store going down means one thing: new gadgets.
Today was no exception. The Apple Store went off-line for a few hours this morning, causing an explosion of posts about the Apple Store being down. Not what the reason for that outage, mind you, just that it was down. And speculation was wild on what the Apple God(s) would bring to the masses.
Ultimately, Jobs and crew has given unto the world a larger iPhone and iPod Touch. Both have doubled in storage space, bringing the iPhone to 16g and the iPod Touch to 32g. While the smaller sizes are still available, I wouldn’t bank on them being around too horribly much longer (no official word there, just speculation). Apple is asking $499 for each new model as well.
While I was at first taken aback by the new price tag, it kinda seems reasonable, assuming the $399 pricing was reasonable to you for the smaller, original styles. $100 more for double the storage doesn’t seem too bad, in the long run. Although, if Apple’s previous actions are of any relevance here, I would wait about 2-3 months so they can bleed every dollar out of the early adopters before they drop the price. (Den Den, I’m looking at you)
