RIAA Update: We Still Want Other Companies To Do Our Job
I just don't know what to say about the RIAA. Now, not only do they want your ISP to filter content for them, but they want to get your Virus Protection program in on the deal. Why? Well, they realize that content filtering can't do it all because of encryption. But if it's blocking software is on your computer, then it can catch your pirated information when you decrypt it.
Why in the world would anyone ever install a program on their computer that do such a thing? Well, they wouldn't, but the RIAA seems to think they can convince your ISP to force install the software on your machine for them or install it directly install it to your modem. And besides, it's virus protection, why wouldn't you want it?
These people are real idiots. This is just another sad attempt to get other companies to assume responsibility for piracy, and it just won't work. You can be damn well sure I'll go with any other ISP than the one that tries to force install some crazy stuff like this on my PC.

another reason I'm glad a macintosh isn't a PC.
Well, the idea is that it would come through a ISP or a modem, and I'm sure if the RIAA had its way, this type of program would be developed for every imaginable OS, from Windows to Mac to Linux to DOS.
If Comcast goes thru with this (as they've already supported the morons at the RIAA) I will give serious thought to converting to FIOS.
