"Save XP" Petition Gets Microsoft's Attention, Dismissal

If you're one of the many who decried Windows Vista as a bloated system-hogging dead-on-arrival bomb, you may have heard of Infoworld's "Save XP" petition, which has garnered over 75,000 signatures in a relatively short period of time. The movement of Microsoft customers seems to have caught the eye of the publicity folks at Microsoft, who extended sales of Windows XP until this June (gee, thanks) and then spun out this rather lame tune:
"(Microsoft is) listening first and foremost to feedback we hear from partners and customers about what makes sense based on their needs."
Which makes sense. They should absolutely listen to their customers. Particularly, the 75,000+ customers who've taken the time to sign the petition, as well as their lazier cohorts. Obviously Microsoft has to move forward and isn't going to be keeping XP around any longer than it has to - but c'mon, MS, don't treat your customers like they aren't actual customers: there's a reason that Apple is booming, and nobody is indestructible.
