Converting Videos For Your iPod For The Lazy Masses

irecorder.jpg

If you're anything like me, you gave up on trying to rip DVD's and then decode them into the proper format for your iPod. Granted, I have tried in a year or two, but the experience at the time was painstaking and annoying. I didn't understand why I needed 3 different programs to get a copy of my legally purchased DVD onto my iPod to watch on my lunch brake, and I refused to pay twice for Season One of Lost. I eventually gave up trying to figure it out and just went back to living life without watching videos on my iPod Video.

Well, the tech gods must have heard my bitching cries, because they recently sent the iRecorder to this world for people just like me. The iRecorder is a nifty little box that acts as a video recorder and decoder/encoder and media transfer point all-in-one. The iRecorder can record from Cable or Satellite or DVD player, and will instantly convert to the chosen format for your PMP. What's more is you can plug your iPod or other PMP directly into the iRecorder and transfer the data right from the box.

This is a great little box for people like me that just don't want to mess with digital conversions. It can also play back right on your TV screen. I wouldn't count on this as a replacement DVR though, as the output is only AV, and there doesn't appear to be a sizable hard drive or even navigation options. If you are like me, you may want to swing on over and pick one up for right around $180.
