Red Ring Of SSDeath?

While all of us here in the Homotron Dungeon of the Gay Gamer Castle (Yeah, Fruit moved us to the dungeon... he said the guests were getting scared because our Mandroids kept moles... whatever, that's not the point....) are excited about SSD's (Solid State Drives. yeah Flash!), it seems that they haven't been living up to expectations as of late. According to a recent survey, a major manufacturer is experience a 10-20% return rate on SSD equipped laptops, which is extremely out of proportion to the 1-2% normal return rate on non-SSD laptops.
The returns are being attributed mostly to defective SSD's, but there are also performance issues with applications like streaming video and Microsoft Office. This is a bit disappointing, because SSD's were suppose to be faster in general. With all new technology though, we have to be prepared to accept a higher failure rate and give the tech some time to iron out the kinks.
So what have we learned, my dear readers? SSD's are the devil? No, no, no. Just remember to use caution when it comes to new and exciting technology. A new tech is bound to be two things, without fail: more expensive than reasonable, and more defective than necessary.
