Rumorama: Microsoft & Google To Bid On Digg?

Four companies are rumored to be seriously pursuing the acquisition of Digg - recently, that is, since Digg sales rumors have been around for almost two years. A new source close to the deal says that Digg, which is expected to sell for rather a lot less than the $300 million previous bid by the bank Allen & Co in 2007, is being looked at by both Google and Microsoft.
Google, says the source, will pay up to $225 million, while Microsoft's three-year advertising deal with Digg gives the internet ranking and metrics company more slack to demand a better deal - although chances look slim that Microsoft would ever concede the sale to Google. Add in the two unnamed companies and a bidding war could see Digg's sale price start to climb again.

If it ain't broke... cease production. Right?
I'm starting to get worried here. The internet's strength was always it's lone wold mentality. The fact that, while corporate America had a presence here, they didn't run it. With Microsoft and Google buying just about everything, the landscape is getting smaller and smaller.
I'm a lucky visitor!
