Annoy Your MySpace Friends With Pirates v Ninjas Today!

Not too long ago, MySpace announced that Apps would be coming to the Social Networking site. Facebook saw a huge jump in membership after their API went live and sparked a lot of news around the net about what this would mean for the future of social networks. As it turns out, it really only mean that you would be able to bite chumps and play Scrabulous So, as MySpace officially launches their Apps program, can we expect anything different from the Newscorp. owned site? No, not really.
Among the list of Apps that can be added to your page on MySpace, many familiar faces have cropped up. iLike movie app, Vampires, Pirates v Ninjas, Triumph... they're almost all there. And it seems that they do just about the same thing here as they do on Facebook. Personally, I would have like to see some unique way of approaching Apps with MySpace, but it appears, at least for now, we'll be settling for the same shtick.
The big question is now how to address the App-Spam we saw run rampant on Facebook. For a good 4 months after the API came out, we were all inundated with spam for new apps every time we logged into Facebook. Given MySpace's history with spam, and the fact that they still haven't been able to curb the problem effectively, will it be worse on their network? I guessing the next few weeks will show us if that will be the case or not, but I hope Newscorp thought about the issue already.
If you'll excuse me, I need to go bloat my page with crap I'll never use and pester all my friends to install everything I've installed...
