CompUSA, The Retail Chain That Won't Die

So CompUSA closed down a few months ago. They shut up their doors and said farewell to the world of retail. Well, that was until Tiger Direct, the company best know for their on-line retail site, snatched up the CompUSA at the last minute. It made sense that Tiger would jump on CompUSA when it did, since Tiger has a small handful of brick-and-mortar stores as an extension of their on-line market, so the opportunity to snatch up the property and locations that CompUSA has/had provides a solid base for Tiger to expand in the real world market.

So, the next logical step here is to re-open those stores! I thought they would re-label them as Tiger Direct stores, but the company has apparently decided to keep the CompUSA name and just Re-Open the stores. If you are in select locations in Florida, Texas and Puerto Rico, you can stop in these stores and see what's new. Our own Den Den Boy may even be able to make a trip and tell us more about these Grandly Re-Opened retail outlets, but I think we'll have to tell him a little fib about the selling Mac products to get him in the door.
