TiVo Vs Dish Network Ruling Upheld

Dish Network/EchoStar's legal row with TiVo has ended for real-real, as EchoStar has been denied their appeal to overturn a 2006 court decision that EchoStar's Dish Network DVRs had violated a patent on TiVo's "time warp" technology.
Now that the feud has been laid to rest, at least legally, Dish folks could see their DVRs snatched away - or otherwise monkeyed with - since Dish was making DVRs with technology it did not have legal rights to use. Bad day for Dish - they also lost a satellite.
Moreover, TiVo could now be free to package its service with more providers - everyone's saying cable boxes, and I know some cable customers who would wet their pants at the prospect of getting TiVo and terrestrial digital television together. Hell, I think I'm one of them.
