108-Inch LCD TV From Sharp, Perfect For Nearsighted Millionare Giants

sharp_380x327.jpg

What's 93.9" by 52.9", boasts 1080p resolution and is coming to the US market a billion times faster than most Japanese electronics? The LB-1085 from Sharp, which appeared for the first time in Tokyo, at the Shinjuku Piccadilly multiplex.

The beastie is made at Sharp's Kameyama Plant No. 2, which happens to be the first plant in the world to use 8th generation glass substrates - which in turn enable super-sized LCD screens. Sharp has been keen to be first in line for all things LCD - they made the first 14" LCD TV back in 1988, introduced the first 45" and 65" models beginning in 2004, and kept up with the digital Jones' with firsts in ultra-high resolution (4096 x 2160) and highest contrast ratio (1,000,000:1). Don't forget a 120Hz frame rate conversion or a 4ms pixel response time.

In short, Sharp is into being numero uno.

Which is why this big baby will cost around $100,000.
