Apple Launches Back-To-School Free iPod Promotion

Good news for those of you planning a Mac purchase soon and have held out for the annual Back To School promotion that Apple usually runs: it has arrived!
All the details and conditions can be found over at Apple's site but I've distilled the essence of the promo just for you, our dear reader:
Buy any new Mac (except iMac 17" and Mac mini) between June 3, 2008 and September 15, 2008, with a student discount together with an iPod nano or iPod Touch and you qualify for a mail-in rebate.
If you buy an iPod nano, you qualify for a $199 rebate, and iPod Touch buyers get $299 back.
This offer is only open to those who qualify for an educational discount (have I mentioned how much I love working at a University lately? Oh, how I do.)
With that many iPod Touches in the hands of college-bound freshmen (we just held our first orientation of the year at my University for them, so cute and clueless!), the user base for the upcoming third party application platform (remember, the iPod Touch runs the same OS as the iPhone, so applications will run on both) will expand significantly.
This is good news all around for us waiting for the awesome apps that are sure to result from the iPhone/iPod Touch SDK, and which we're sure to see next week at WWDC.
