Be Supercool With Your @ymail Address!
Yahoo! opened up a few new email address domain names for the masses yesterday. Yahoo! Mail customers can now choose @ymail.com or @rocketmail.com, in addition to their traditional @yahoo.com. While @ymail sounds cheesy as hell, and @rocketmail sounds waaaay to Elton John for my tastes, I think it's still a pretty nice move on Yahoo!'s part.
The thing is that it's become harder and harder to get professional sounding email addresses from the traditional web mail providers. The chance of finding your name, in any way, shape, or form, available at yahoo, gmail, aol, or even msn is pretty slim. But now, there are a few more options for you. @ymail may not look bad on a resume, but @rocketmail... well, everytime I even read that I start singing.

rocketmail is an OOOOOOLD address i guess they are just bringing back. used to have rocketmail back in the late 90s. rocketmail used to also let you pick what your address was in totality for a while. so you could have it say "xxx@sailormoon.com" or whatever you wanted.
I read that in a different article. Apparently, rocketmail was one of the companies Yahoo! snatched up in the late 90's but just didn't do much with it. Happens waaaay to often in web tech, sadly.
Wow.. I remember Rocketmail. I had an account with them and Hotmail.. back when it was owned by Hotmail.
I thought it had all but died.. I didn't realize Yahoo bought them up.

my old Rocketmail address was the first email address I ever got. I don't even remember my username from way back then, but damn did I think it was cool.
Speaking of OLD, anyone remember CoolEmail? the "email that talks"? I thought that was the sweetest freaking thing ever. I could call a number and HEAR my email.
DAMN I miss the days when stuff like that was freaking sweet
