TimesPeople: A Social Network Within One Specific Site For Very Specific, High-Minded Individuals Like You

TimesPeople is an browser add-on made specifically for The New York Times website. With it, you can build a social network of Times readers and share articles, recommend blogs and allow them to see which restaurants you review and movies you watch.

So, if you're really insecure and want to impress high-minded people, you can go to The Times' list of the 1000 Greatest Movies, check off every single one has 5 stars (or, better yet, 1 star, and then offer rambunctious, obscenity-laden commentary on why it'll never compare to Troll 2).

I installed the add-on and tried to import my Gmail contacts as "friends" but nobody on my Gmail uses this service. So if you want to be my TimesPeople friend, search for NeonMadman. I really, really want to be your buddy in more ways than one.

The interface is all right—after the page finishes loading, the TimePeople toolbar chugs down like a fat man cascading down a staircase from the upper quadrant of the screen, pushing all the content half an inch down. Right now my "toolbar" is completely blank as I have no friends, no one is watching me and I'll probably die alone.
