Video: TBS Makes The Most Annoying Commercial Yet
Faced with a growing number of DVR-remote wielding viewers (you'll only rip my TiVo peanut out of my cold, dead hands) that skip over commercial breaks, TV networks are faced with a dwindling audience for their revenue source, so it's no surprise that they're trying to figure out ways to save their old business model.
TBS; however, has pushed it too far. While we've endured ads playing at the bottom of the screen over our shows for years now, TBS has come up with an even more nefarious solution: actually pause the show in the middle of dialogue, do a commercial, and then resume the show. See for yourself:
I couldn't agree more with Jason Kottke:
I realize that Time Warner doesn't actually care about the people who watch their shows and that television programs are just the networks' way of getting people to watch advertising, but this is too much. Do these things actually work or just piss people off in droves? Is there some marketing hot dog at Time Warner who thinks that Family Guy viewers want to watch the blue collar comedy stylings of Bill Engvall? I'm sorry that the DVR is ruining your business model, but can you kick the bucket a little more gracefully?
I'm putting you on notice, TBS.

3D iPhone glasses. Why?
This could get pretty damned annoying! I would also like to point out the add for the Bill Engval Show that is currently being served up by our ad network below this entry box as I type this... coincidence?
