Wine 1.0 Finally Released (After 15 Years!)

In what could possibly be the end to the longest period of beta testing EVAR (though Google certainly seems to love their betas too), the project heads have finally decided to unleash Wine 1.0 to the public!
The Wine team is proud to announce that Wine 1.0 is now available. This is the first stable release of Wine after 15 years of development and beta testing. Many thanks to everybody who helped us along that long road! While compatibility is not perfect yet, thousands of applications have
been reported to work very well. Check http://appdb.winehq.org to see
the details for your favorite applications.
15. Years. Geez.
For the uninitiated, Wine is a Windows API compatibility layer for Unix systems (which includes Mac OS X) that allows you to run many Windows applications without having to install Windows on your computer.
Hop on over to download the source code or conveniently packaged binaries to test it out yourself!
