Send A Tweet To Keep Your Senate Seat

I'll admit it, I'm going to actively try to not cover the iPhone launch today. So much is being said about it all over the place that I'm not sure that I can add anything productive to the conversation… and since there's still no Bear411 app, I have nothing to review!
One of the subjects near and dear to me, however, is politics and the politicking politicians that practice politics. A new bill up in the House is attempting to restrict Congress members access to internet resources while campaigning. At least, that's what they're saying it's for. My guess is it's more for the Mark Foley's of the world that are too busy IM-ing dirty things to Congressional Aides to spend time voting.
The bill is an obvious attempt to cement more power to incumbent Congresspeople, as the cost of spreading your message via various social networks is minimal compared to more traditional grass-roots campaigns. Newer, perhaps younger, up-and-comers looking to usurp power from incumbent politicians now have more tools to spread the word and organize voters, and the old curmudgeons don't like that.
However, we're not giving up. As they are prone to do, the Internets are fighting back! And it wouldn't be an internet fight if it wasn't conducted in the nerdiest way possible. Enter the Twitter Petition via LetOurCongressTweet. There's a prefab message to tweet to show you do not support this new measure, and to prove to your followers how politically motivated you are. All you need to be send a Tweet with the following message:
Congress, change the rules. Talk to us on our social networks. http://LetOurCongressTweet.org Let our Congress Tweet! #LOCT08
If you haven't signed up to Twitter just yet, you need to. I'm just saying...
