Want XP? If So, Vista Ultimate Is The OS For You!

In a move that can really only be described as "oh, so Microsoft," the big MS has decided to ease up on it's recent decapitation of Windows XP. Even though you can't just run out and buy a copy of XP any more, you can still get it… for a price, of course.

Microsoft has decided that if you buy a new PC with Windows Vista Business or Ultimate, the manufacturer can offer you a downgrade option to also get XP. You don't get the option of just XP, only an option of also XP. And you have to buy Vista Ultimate to do it. Shenanigans!

Most PC's that come equipped with Vista come with Vista Home Premium standard, which means that getting Business or Ultimate is an upgrade, meaning a larger price tag somewhere in the $80-$100 range. So what they are saying is that you can have the privilege of paying an extra $80 for a supped up OS that you don't want, and then pay more for an OS that you like. Thanks, MS, we knew you understood what the consumers really want!

Sadly, they do know what consumers want: XP. And they also know that many people are willing to pay out the hind-end to get it. So they're going to take it out of your hind-end for you. With a non-lubricated glove.

So, if you're in the market for a new PC, and you reeeeeally want XP, be prepared to feel like the boy in the sling at your local bathhouse and bring plenty of lube.
