Google Sans Google

Finnish developer Timo Paloheimo's custom search, Google minus Google, takes the Google out of Google. With the increasing presence of Google-owned sites on Google search result pages, it seems really only a matter of time until the SEO conspiracy theorists and the custom search people came together in one grand anti-Google project.
Going with the notion that the purpose of a Google search is to search the whole and actual internet, not just the Googlenet, Google minus Google works by filtering out any Google property from your search results. A new update over last week's launch version removes the giant blacklist from the beginning of the search query and makes it even easier to compare search results - instead of a list of YouTube videos, for instance, you might first see the people who made the video in the first place, as well as a Wiki entry, and so forth.
Combined with the rather specific Firefox plugin known as YouTube Comment Snob, you can potentially wield all kinds of power over the behavior of your internet browser and gain control over the trending of content to your screen.
