Chrome Goes Portable... And German

screenshot.3.jpeg

Google's Chrome browser managed to cause quite the stir last week. Personally, I'm not completely sold on the idea just yet, but I'm definitely not opposed to giving it a shot. Some of it's core concepts are really innovative, but I really can't give up my Firefox extensions while I'm at work and my Flock yummyness while I'm at home. And I'm not quite sure I want to install another piece of Google software on my computer. So what's a techno-savvy-quasi-geeky queer boy to do if he wants to try it out, with no commitment?

The solution, of course, would be to get the portable version! While not officially supported by Google, the portable version of Chrome, which runs off a flash drive, works pretty well. Since Chrome is open source, an enterprising developer took hold of it and portabalized it for everyone! The good news is you don't have to make a firm commitment to the browser, because there's no need to install it. The bad news is the site to get it from is in German, but the link is pretty easy to spot. But that's just the way we like it out men here at Homotron: speaking a foreign language and not asking for a commitment!
