Gadget Of The Week: BlackBerry Bold

9002.jpg

Now that RIM has officially unveiled and renamed its RIM BlackBerry 9000, the BlackBerry Bold is at last the real deal. It gets its name, first and foremost, from the lush 65,000 color half-VGA screen and its 480x320 lines of resolution - those who've seen it have been unable to restrain their enthusiasm.

Add to that GSM 850/900/1800/1900 and HSDPA/UMTS 850/1900/2100 support, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth 2.0, and a 624 MHz Intel PXA270 processor, 1GB of onboard memory, support for up to 16GB in microSD/SDHC, and the BlackBerry Bold should satisfy the wants and needs of even the greediest RIM fan.

As far as software goes, an improved web browser, an agile audio and video player that supports MP3, WMA, AAC, DivX4 and WMV3 files round out a very lush feature set.

The only major uncertainty: RIM has yet to announce its service provider. But AT&T isn't a bad guess.

This will indeed, be the sexiness when it comes out.

This is hot. I am due for an upgrade on my Pearl in February and the Bold is my current choice.

Of course, the possible Blackberry "Touch" may be a reality by then....
