iPhone OS 2.1 Live

3g-iphone-back.jpg

Yay! Today Apple released iPhone 3G OS 2.1, which ought to help those of us with lamed 3G reception and app crashing. Also in the update are fixes to my two most frustrating iPhone issues, backup time and app install/upgrade time.

Decreasing the time it takes to back your iPhone up to iTunes is a huge plus, and I'm sick as hell of upgrading my apps one at a time and having to be patient, of all things. Patience! I spit upon patience.

The change log:

  • Decrease in call set-up failures and dropped calls
  • Significantly better battery life for most users
  • Dramatically reduced time to backup to iTunes
  • Improved email reliability, notably fetching email from POP and Exchange accounts
  • Faster installation of 3rd party applications
  • Fixed bugs causing hangs and crashes for users with lots of third party applications
  • Improved performance in text messaging
  • Faster loading and searching of contacts
  • Improved accuracy of the 3G signal strength display
  • Repeat alert up to two additional times for incoming text messages
  • Option to wipe data after ten failed passcode attempts
  • Genius playlist creation
