HP Secretly Shipping 3G Netbooks?

Thanks to an enterprising Mini 1000 owner who discovered a SIM card slot tucked away in the Mini 1000's battery compartment, the world knows what is apparently a big secret: HP is shipping 3G-enabled Netbooks. In fact, the user who discovered the SIM card slot was able to find a WWAN driver from HP that activated the slot without any additional tinkering...which means HP is shipping Netbooks with 3G. And keeping it a secret.
Maybe HP is planning to partner up with a 3G provider and wants to keep the reveal? Or maybe it's a test market kinda thing? I can think of a number of reasons not to parade around one's new 3G hookup, but not many reasons to keep it from the actual customers themselves.
