Video: YouTube Testing Out 720p HD Video!
It seems YouTube has been quietly testing true, 720p streaming video with surround sound, finally matching the quality of competing sites like Vimeo.
The quality difference is like night and day! See for your self: the top video is in the new 720p HD, and the bottom video is in the standard resolution:
To watch videos in the new 720p HD format, just add "&fmt=22" to the YouTube url (mind you, this'll only work if the source material originally uploaded is in high resolution.)
Japanese users have also spotted a new feature that lets them save videos in MP4 format to their computers, though the feature has not materialised outside of the Japanese version of YouTube.

3D iPhone glasses. Why?
This seems like a genuinely good idea. The biggest reason being that YouTube may be able to get in bed with various TV stations and host their shows, much like Hulu, etc.
They could also coerce stations like NBC, ABC, and CBS to forgo placing shows on their own websites, and instead just place them on Youtube for (I'm assuming) cheaper.
Brave new world.....
