Gadget Of The Week: Skullcandy MacGyver MP3 Watch

When my boyfriend pointed at this Skullcandy MacGyver MP3 watch and said "Buy me this," I thought "Wow, what a miscarriage of techno-lush. What a concatenation of ridiculousnesses! What an opportunity to tease!"
But I have to admit, after reading about the watch's features I'm a little less skeptical. It does look pretty nifty, and while it's bulky (there's a USB cord embedded in the strap, which gives you an idea), doesn't use USB 2.0, doesn't support Vista and has a 1GB memory limit, the sound is supposedly quite good. Plus, it's a cool toy.
Features include:
- Music format: MP3/WMA/WAV/ADPCM
- Equalizer modes: Pop/Rock/Jazz/Classic/Normal
- Built in 2.5mm earphone jack
- 2.5mm earbuds included
- Built in microphone
- WAV/ADPCM voice recording
- Up to 5 hours non-stop play time
- Recharge battery and transfer files through integrated replaceable USB cable
- USB 1.1 flash storage 128MB/256MB/512MB/1024MB
- Automatic power off battery saver feature
- Win 98, 2000, XP, Mac OSX
- Shock proof, static proof
Just don't hit the delete button, located right beside the headphone jack - it'll delete your music. At $89.95-99.95, the MacGyver watch is very affordable, and if you're not a smartphone guy and you want an easy, fun MP3 player for the ride to work, you could do worse.
