Old-School Homotron: Teh Rumarz Iz Rong!

I went trolling through a few of our Archives this morning (you can find them over on the left nav bar there) because I'm just a tad bit bored at work. I know, I should be the "go-getter" and find things to do here at work, but it's way more fun to look through old posts. Like this one, where Den Den reported the fabulous rumor of video recording and uploading coming to the iPhone... still waiting on that one!
What I loved about this particular rumor is the quote that was included in the article, which is just too good, so I'll requote it here:
"They [Apple] aren't stupid. They won't want to give you everything at once. You wait, there will an exciting partnership with YouTube that adds video functionality and then lets you upload to the site in no time", an industry insider told Pocket-lint.
So I wonder what exactly this "industry insider" is doing with his time now? Inventing rumors about possible integration with Xtube? Ultimately, rumors are just that, rumors, which is why we try our best to designate them as such. And hot products like the iPhone tend to produce a few more rumors than others. This particular rumor was only shortly after Android was announced and a while before the iPhone 3G was announced.
But just because it was a rumor doesn't mean that it was a bad idea! I've had much crappier phones that recorded and uploaded video, maybe not to YouTube, but still did the basics. Then again, I've had much crappier phones that actually worked well as, you know, phones, which the iPhone still has problems doing. That aside, it would be cool to see this type of functionality, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. We haven't heard another peep about this since November of last year, not to mention that we still don't have basic MMS.

3D iPhone glasses. Why?
