Will Apple Whore Itself Out To Walmart?

I'm not so sure what exactly is going here, but a post over at Engadget has me thinking that Apple may be selling it self cheap to Walmart soon. Rumor has it that a 4GB, $99 iPhone will be sold exclusively at the store that Satan built on cheap, insurance-less labor. This could happen within the next few weeks, just in time for the last of the holiday shopping experience.
If this is the case, and Apple sells a cheap iPhone through Walmart only, I think I will have to be genuinely pissed at Apple for it. I don't care how much I paid for my phone. What would bother me most about it is that doing so would make it very clear and obvious that they have the ability to sell their product in a reasonable price range, they simply choose not to. Because Steve Mobs lives on the sea and needs to finance his shiny gesture-sensitive glass HUD.
I would warn everyone (and ask you to warn all your friends and family) that buying an iPhone, whether its $99 or $5999, from Walmart is a bad idea. Nevermind the questionably immoral HR policies, consider the utter nightmare of a Walmart employee trying to activate your phone. Just think about that for two seconds and if you don't fall over weeping in sorrow for the poor souls that try it, you're a heartless bastard. Throw in the sheer genius of the general population that shops at Wally-world, and this is simply a beautiful recipe lycra and spandex FAIL.

3D iPhone glasses. Why?
Walmart does offer insurance, I'm an associate there and all associates be them full time or part time are offered insurance after they have been with the company for one year. I hate the antiWalmart comments, its not a bad company to work for, sure some of the managers suck but thats a store by store thing.
The iPhone is a brick until you activate it. You don't buy them; you rent them for $40 a month (or more) on a two-year lease. The hardware deposit is trivial in light of the service cost, so lowering it doesn't make any real difference.
Besides, I for one would not be satisfied with a 4 GB limit for all the music, video, and applications I want to carry around.
In case this double posts, sorry; your host was broken overnight.
I love how, in your hateful eyes, everyone who shops at Wal-Mart is of low intelligence. Some people are in unfortunate situations where Wal-Mart is the only store around. Am I surprised at your hate? A little. Am I disappointed? Yes.
My eyes are actually very soft and pretty, thank you very much. You can't even see the hateful tint anymore, my "love colored" cover that up excellently!
