New Year Means New Tech
Happy New Year everyone! How'd you celebrate the turning of the year? Drunk and sloppy in a bar or reserved and quiet at home? Maybe somewhere in between? As for me, I spent my New Years celebration waiting for food at a slow moving diner, then got trapped in an elevator at my condo building...
Which got me thinking. We're in a new year, and we all know that technology has a shelf life. It became apparent to me (and hopefully my condo association) that our elevators have become old and obsolete and should be replaced (for the record, they got us out in about 35 minutes, we didn't have to call the fire department), but then I started thinking about what else I have that might become obsolete and need replacing. For me, 2009 will be the year of the new laptop, as well as the new surround sound system.
What tech are you planning on replacing this year? Has something you treasure gone by the wayside? Did you finally resolve to upgrade that crappy Razr to something, I don't know, actually useful? Let us know in the comments!

3D iPhone glasses. Why?
I have a Moto ROKR E6 and a P4D system that both need to hit the road this year, which probably means my media box and server need an upgrade as well. Still haven't figured out what cell phone I want. Hoping something good (and thin) comes out in the next couple of months. If you guys come across a cell phone with a full QWERTY that is about .5" thick let me know!
Wow. For me 2008 was the year of new tech: HDTV, blu-ray, satellite radio, new surround sound system, new car, 1st ipod, etc. I really don't see myself getting much this year unless something breaks.
@Akio Haven't seen anything like that yet, but CES is coming up REAL fast, so I wouldn't be surpised to see some great new phones! We'll keep you posted for sure!
@Will I upgraded a lot in 2008, but sadly, the tech geek in me demands more ;)
I actualy did get tired of my Razor and after seeing gel start to leak out of the side of the screen I thought that was a sign to upgrade. Got myself the HTC touch Pro. After some web research and lot of looking around I made the move. WOW,why didnt I do ths a long time ago? Great phone and so many features. I stayed up late last night playing with the thing and still have not checked out everything it has to offer. So yes out with the old and in with the new, 2009 is an upgrade year for me too...
@Johnny The HTC Touch Pro is a sexy looking phone. That was one of my favorite picks for last year, good choice! ;)
My desktop needs to be put to pasture, I'm afraid. I've had it for about four years, and I've been able to take care of it and switch out parts when needed, but it is slowing down in its old age. I just hope it doesn't hate me for dumping it for a young, sexier piece of hardware.
