Pioneer Leaving TV Biz For Good

Pioneer has confirmed rumors that it is leaving the television manufacturing business, following the dismal trend that has plagued the Japanese consumer electronics business.
By March of 2010, Pioneer will have phased out its television production business and re-focused itself on its car electronics and non-TV home A/V products. This is a shame because Pioneer's Kuro HDTVs are fantastic plasmas, and also because of the 10,000 jobs that will be lost as a result of the decision.
Also new is TV manufacturer Vizio's announcement that it will ditch plasmas to focus solely on LCD televisions, which leaves plasma customers out in the cold. Only Panasonic, LG and Samsung continue to manufacture plasma televisions in a major way
