Winscape: Plasma Screen Windows

winscape.pngMy home has a lot of natural light, and I'm thankful for it. However, I can't help but be intrigued by this idea from Rational Craft. I'm ultimately waiting until I can replace my conventional windows with something like this that also has the ability to be transparent and solar powered. How about that picture window in your living room transforming into an HD theater or displaying still and/or video art? See the videos after the jump.

Homotron Awakes With iPad Launch

At 11:34 AM EDT Saturday I received an iPad. It took awhile to get my data sync'd and even longer to download and update apps; yet the end result is pretty outstanding. Ok, yes, it's a big iPod Touch, but saying that doesn't do it justice. I believe that you have to hold it appreciate how different that it is, especially when dealing with apps that are written for the device. In fact, it is notable enough that I felt the need to write about it and finally revive Homotron.

GayGamers may want to check it out. It's my opinion that it will be an incredible platform for games. Even iPhone games seem to work fairly well. I know that many people complain about the 2x enlargement, but I find that that is only annoying on text-based apps. Graphical apps do get a little jaggy, but overall it's not too terrible, especially if you have any history playing the 8 or 16 bit games of yore.

I have spent much of the day exploring the iPad, and I have not yet encountered the problem of it not having support for Flash. I know that I will encounter it eventually, and I expect that to be a bummer when it happens. Until then, there is plenty to keep me entertained.

Like the iPhone, learning to type well is going to take some time. It's still not the same as a regular keyboard, but I know that I got much faster typing on my iPhone, so I'm expecting that I will get the feel for how to type quickly with the iPad.

The number of iPad apps is still a bit limited at the moment, but now that independent developers have the device in their hands, you can expect to see an explosion of iPad apps just like happened for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

Breakfast on a Gaymer's Schedule

eggmuffin.jpgThe past few mornings our chatroom (accessible from our forum) has seen the same discussion lead by our moderator LilMikeNYC. I have invited him to share his thoughts with you here:

After having stayed up until dawn playing COD4 with your gaymer buddies, you roll over in bed and look at the alarm clock: 9:45. You have 15 minutes to get up, get dressed, brush your teeth, root around in the couch for spare change, try not to think about your hair, and get to that restaurant with the yellow arches before they start trying to foist a double-fatburger on you for breakfast (no, thank you -- I don't want fries with that). It's almost enough to make you stay home and eat Toastie O's out of the box. Why can't a person get a delicious breakfast on a gaymer's schedule?!?

Well now, thanks to the kind folks at Back to Basics -- s/he can! Their Egg-and-Muffin 2-Slice Toaster and Egg Poacher is the answer to the prayers of many a late-night gaymer. Pour in some water, spray a dash of non-stick cooking spray, crack an egg, toss in an english muffin, and walk away to make sure your highscore is still intact. 4 minutes later, you're sitting down to a piping-hot egg muffin that rivals anything that clown has ever cooked up! Add the cheese, bacon or sausage of your choice to really punch up breakfast -- there's even a place in the machine to heat them up (they must be precooked -- I buy precooked bacon, or throw a sausage patty in the microwave for 60 seconds).

The genius is in the timing, and how easy it all is to have an amazing breakfast. A microprocessor automatically adjusts the cooking time of the english muffin (or toast, or bagel) so that it finishes and is hot exactly when the egg is done cooking. You can make the egg poached or scrambled -- either way, it's cooked with steam, and comes out perfectly every time. (The machine also hard-boils up to 4 eggs at a time -- great if you New Year's resolutions included going on a high-protein diet!)

So the next time you wake up in a panic, ready to rush out the door and expose your bedhead to an unforgiving world...relax, take a deep breath, and remember that you have the Back to Basics Egg-and-Muffin 2-Slice Toaster and Egg Poacher standing by in the kitchen to make your morning right. And with all the time and energy you save not running out your front door every morning...who knows? Maybe you really can get a high score after all....

And girls who like girls who like fembots!
